As long as I can remember, I was interested in writing,
whether it be a small article for my neighborhood newspaper, or a full length
novel. Several friends of mine told me that my writing would be suitable for
television because it was episodic.
Episodic. The magic word. Little did I know the Internet would
become the medium for me, and quite a happy accident it was! I had written some
fan fiction, looked around for other work, and found a group of people just
like myself who liked the realm of continuing ORIGINAL drama. This was the next
logical step.
Northern Lights is about drama, all right. The slogan
"Drama Canadian Style" has a special meaning for me, which you'll
discover as you continue reading. Canadian television, especially the
excellent, Gemini award-winning drama Traders, was one of my influences
early in the development of this series.
Northern Lights is also about family. It's about people
from many backgrounds and many cultures, coming together and falling apart.
They don't always get along, but that makes for more interesting reading.
Northern Lights is about life, however the cards are dealt.
Most of all, Northern Lights is about love.
My own love affair with Canada and her people began in 1994
during my sojourn to Toronto for a writers' conference. The Land of the Maple
Leaf enthralled me, captivated me, and just wouldn't let go. Like a parting
lover, she made me promise that I would return some day.
Virtual though it may be, this is my return.
I hope you'll come and share the Northern Lights with me
and discover what "Drama Canadian Style" can really offer.
Hollie, creator/producer.
